Counselling at Still Human

About Still Human

If you are experiencing emotional difficulties, perhaps as the result of bereavement, the end of a relationship, illness, redundancy, family problems, domestic abuse, identity issues, anxiety or depression, you may benefit from counselling. Counselling is a type of talking therapy where your needs are at the centre of the process.

If you are in the grip of powerful sensations such as grief, shame, jealously, anger, hopelessness, or self-loathing, or, if you are wondering whether life is worth living, get in touch, when you are ready.

What to expect at Still Human

When you contact me by phone, text or email, we can schedule an assessment session. I aim to respond within 24 hours. This first session is free and will give us the chance to discuss how to work together. It will last up to an hour.

We can then schedule other sessions for counselling. These last 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week, as mutually agreed. We can choose either long-term or short-term work.

My way of working

I work by integrating two main approaches:

  • The Person-Centred approach which involves connecting with your authentic self, free from the judgements of others.

  • The Psychodynamic approach, which is based on theories of the unconscious mind and the coping mechanisms we all use to get through life.

At the heart of our work together will be a commitment to self-compassion. Developing a compassionate mind may take courage but offers a rewarding new way of relating to ourselves.

I won’t tell you what to feel or direct you, instead we will work together to bring about change.

If you are a trainee counsellor, and self-development is part of your journey, you are very welcome at Still Human. I offer a discounted rate for those of you working toward a professional qualification.
